Troops kill 5 insurgents in Borno state

Troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade deployed in Operation LAFIYA DOLE, in a joint trans-border operation with troops of the Cameroonian Defence Forces, killed five Boko Haram terrorists in the border villages of Yabiri Kote and Bula Dadobe of Bama Local Government Area Borno State. The joint operations, tagged: “Operation RAINBOW 15” which was conducted from Saturday 15 – Sunday 16 September 2018, came on the heels of the discovery of makeshift bases, established by the terrorists in Yabiri Kote and Bula Dadode from where they launched attacks on villages in Cameroon and Nigeria.                             Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has once again written the Economicand Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), affirming his readinessmake himself available at the commission’s Abuja office after October 16, 2018 at 1pm. Fayose’s constitutional tenure is expected to elapse on October 16. He, however, accused the anti-graft agency of demonstrating what he tagged “hate prejudice, persecution and partiality.” Fayose said should the EFCC be so much in a hurry that its investigation cannot wait till October 16, 2018, “without prejudice to Section 308 of the Constitution, I will be willing to answer questions from your team of investigators should they be willing to meet me in my office in Ado Ekiti on the 20th September 2018. UNICEF supports enrolment of over one million girl-child in schools

The  United Nation Children Fund (UNICEF) has ‎been supporting the GIrls Education Project (GEP) for the enrolment of one million girl child in schools ‎in the last eight years. Chief of UNICEF Nigeria, Bauchi field office, Mr Bhanu Pathak disclosed this while speaking at the opening ceremony of the National Development Workshop on Gender Right to  Education, Advocacy and Mentoring Skills for High Level Women Advocates (HILWA)  held in Bauchi. He said that under the programme, 1,417 female teachers have been supported through training and Scholarship Schemes. According to him, UNICEF has over the years supported the Development of women and children through  supporting school enrolment drives, empowering communities and assisting in the establishment of the Girls for Girls (G4G) and HILWA groups in various states. TSA forced NNPC to close over 2000 bank accounts - official Before The end of (MAY 30)

The introduction of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) in August 2015 reduced the number of accounts managed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) from over 2000 to a little under 200, the corporation’s chief financial officer (CFO) said. Mr. Isiaka Abdulrazaq the NNPC CFO spoke in an interview published in the corporation’s quarterly magazine. The TSA, a centralised Federal Government revenue account kept by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was proposed and only partially implemented in 2012 but the Buhari Administration started its full implementation in 2015. “It is on record that NNPC is one of the few parastatals of government that achieved seamless movement of funds from deposit money banks to the various TSA accounts opened by the CBN,” Mr. Abdulrazaq said. “The process reduced the unwieldy number of accounts managed by the Corporation from over 2000 to a little under 200,” he said adding that all the old accounts with the commercial banks have b...

Five OAU Students Docked over Alleged Assault

Five students of Obafemi Awolowo University were on Thursday charged to court over an alleged assault on the school officials. The Nation gathered that the students were handed over to the police by the university management on Wednesday accusing them of assaulting a university official. Eye witnesses made it known that the students opposed the forced eviction of students from a female hostel, Moremi hall, on Wednesday. The five students; Gbenga Olaniran, Oyedeji Samson, Olajide Adedamola, Jimoh Oladipupo and Adeniji John, were present at the Ife Magistrate Court during the trial. Students and journalists were denied access to the court room by the officials of theFederal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigerian Police. The team who was led by Askme Moses said it was an instruction by the Area Commander (AC) of the police. Moses said no student or journalist should enter the court room. UNICEF Applauds The Return Of The Dapchi Girls

The United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF)   has hailed the Federal government and expressed its delight over the report on the return of the   Dapchi girls   that were abducted on Feb. 19 by suspected   Boko Haram   insurgents. Mr Mohamed Fall , UNICEF Representative in Nigeria, said this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja. Mr. Fall state that the organization is committed to collaborating with the   Yobe State government   to help the girls survive the trauma they might have to endure as a result of their experience in the camp of the insurgents. Militants Threaten To Bomb Oil Facilities Over Sack Of Boroh As Amnesty Coordinator

Some Niger Delta militants have threatened to attack the nation’s oil facilities if   President Muhammadu Buhari   fails to reinstate Paul Boroh as the coordinator  of the amnesty programme for Niger Delta militants. The   Reformed Niger Delta Avengers   and 10 other militant groups have given the president four weeks to restore Boroh back to his initial position. Naija News   recalls   Boroh was removed from the position last week   by President Muhammadu Buhari, and replaced with   Prof. Charles Dokubo . President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated German Chancellor, Angela Merkel on her re-election for another term.

In a letter to the German leader, the President said he was “most delighted to learn of the successful conclusion of the inter-Party negotiations to form a new Government after the last election in Germany.” President Buhari told Chancellor Merkel that her victory “is a testimony of your hard-work, competence and trust of the German people, qualities which are much admired in many parts of the world especially here in Africa.” According to President Buhari, Nigeria look forward to greater cooperation between our two countries as they strive to confront shared challenges.

Air Force Plane Crash Lands In Kaduna

  An aircraft, belonging to the  Nigerian Air Force  (NAF) on Monday, crashed in  Kauran Dawa village  in Lere Local Government Area of  Kaduna State . The aircraft is used for training purposes and the pilot only sustained minor injuries after crash landing the plane,  Naijacontain News  understands. The crash was confirmed in a statement yesterday by the Director of Public Relations and Information,   Air Vice Marshal Olatokunbo Adesanya . According to the statement, the Air Force authorities have ordered an investigation into the  crash of the   Diamond 40 Trainer Aircraft   which was on a solo mission as part of the flying training at the   401 Flying Training School in Kaduna.
