Cocaine worth $920m seized by Custom officers( 9ja contain)





Customs officials in Hamburg presented a record haul of 3.8 tonnes of cocaine with a street

value of $920m to the media on Thursday.
The haul, which originated in South America, was displayed under tight security in a military

barracks in the northern port city of Hamburg.






The drugs, which were stacked before the press in

 colourful, shrink-wrapped plastic packages, were

seized in three batches during customs operations in

Hamburg’s harbour earlier in the year.

The haul was the first time several tonnes of class `A’

drugs were seized by German customs.

At least five civilians were killed and several others wounded in an attack by suspected Boko Haram militants in southeast Niger, near the border with Nigeria, according to local sources. “The BH (Boko Haram) came to the market place Friday evening, they shot the crowd and took food,” said a resident of Toummour, in the southwest Diffa region, which was targeted by the attack. A local official on Sunday confirmed the toll of “five dead, all civilians”, adding that several were also wounded in the attack.
