[TODAY'S NEWS] ACOMORAN to partner transport ministry in sustenance of economy

The Association of Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle, Owners, Repairers and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) has said it is partnering with transport ministry in drawing a roadmap for safe transportation and job creation in order to boost Nigeria’s economy considering the high rate of unemployment.

The President of the Association, Babangida Shehu Maihula made this known in a statement to highlight the journey of the association so far and its collaborations with different stakeholders in getting more youths eke a living through motorcycle or tricycle riding

Maihula noted that the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has brought about transformation in the transport sector by expanding the functions of the association and welcoming suggestions that can move the sector forward.

“The union with collaboration of the Hon Minister have been collaborating to ensure safety in the transport and make more youths productive so as to sustain our economy, as such we have brought a policy of data capturing for all our members that will enhance this goal and rid the union of criminal elements that are giving the union a bad name” he added.

The President added that the controversies surrounding the merger of the union has been resolved which resulted to the current name which the union is addressed as, adding that its over 12 million members nationwide are collaborating with the 36 states transport ministries to engage youths in fruitful ventures that can help in the growth of the economy.

He added that in order to ensure its impact on the transport sector and on the Nigerian economy at large, the union is partnering with other umbrella bodies in the sector in ensuring the smooth operations of their members across the country that have now been extended to tricycle riders to open more room for youths to be engaged.
